Freehostia is a web hosting provider that has been in business for over 10 years. They offer what they call "clustered hosting", which basically means that each resource on their network serves a specific purpose and only performs a certain type of service. This allows them to provide affordable and high-performance web hosting to their users.
- 5 sites, 250MB storage, 6MB bandwidth
- No ads
- Domain registration
- 24/7 customer support with 1-hour ticket response and online documentation
Freehostia offers free cloud hosting on its Chocolate plan. This means everything is supposed to be faster than most of the other options on the list.
But the Chocolate plan is also very small: only 250 MB of disk space and 10 MB of database storage. Don't expect to host a ton of media files on your website at once.
That said, it includes a free self-signed SSL certificate, a site builder with free templates, and the promise of a response to help tickets in less than an hour – virtually unheard of.
If you have a small enough site, the customer service promise alone makes Freehostia a go-to choice.
